Job Title: Jewelry Sales Associate & Over-the-Counter Buyer
Location: North Coast Jewelry – 107 Merritt St Fife Lake, MI 49633
Schedule: Up to 40 hours/week – Every Other Saturday required. Willing to discuss the weekday schedule. Our hours of operation are:
- Monday-Friday: 9:00am-6:00pm (M-Th is by appointment)
- Saturday: 10:00am-5:00pm (temporarily closed Sat. Opening again Nov. 1)
- Sunday: Closed
Job Overview: We’re looking for a personable, trustworthy, and detail-oriented team member to join us at North Coast Jewelry. This dual-role position includes both assisting customers with fine jewelry and luxury watch purchases and repairs, as well as evaluating and buying jewelry, and other related merchandise brought in over the counter. This is a unique opportunity to work in a customer-focused, family-owned business where professionalism and integrity are key.
Key Responsibilities: Jewelry Sales Associate Duties:
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging manner
- Showcase and explain features and benefits of fine jewelry, watches, and designer handbags
- Assist customers through repair service needs (Customer facing sales/service only, goldsmith is a separate position)
- Build lasting customer relationships and support repeat business
- Maintain a clean and organized display area
Over-the-Counter Buyer Duties:
- Evaluate merchandise brought in by customers
- Measure/grade materials, assess condition, and market value
- Make fair, honest offers based on current market trends and internal pricing guidelines
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and ensure compliance with store policies
Requirements:
- Prior experience in sales, especially in the jewelry, precious metals, or luxury goods fields preferred but not required—willing to train the right person
- Ideally the candidate will be comfortable with social media, being able to assist in driving sales online/ customers into store.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to learn quickly and work with integrity
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills
- Basic math and money handling skills
- Must be hygienic and able to present professionally
- Must be comfortable handling valuable merchandise
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
Compensation:
A base hourly wage based on experience/ability PLUS Commission and potential for profit sharing bonuses. The position starts with 7 days paid vacation annually, and will increase with tenure. The company also provides a matching 401K retirement account as well.
